I think Isolated studio teaching is the best structure for getting training because the one on one aspect where its just the teacher and the student with no interruptions is a great way to learn and get better, however I do see why people struggle with it especially getting ready for a performance when you have only payed the piece in front of a single person. If you are in a university music course I think it is necessary for those isolated lessons. The whole point you are there is to get better and you wont get better if you don't get that one on one help with no distractions. Having a teacher by your side while you are learning a challengeing piece can be comforting.

Toward Convergence: Adapting Music Education to Contemporary Society and Participatory Culture12/5/2019 What is the music educators role when students engage with participatory culture?
It is their role to help students participate while incorporating participatory culture by using technology but also still focusing on the task at hand whether in a classroom setting or an ensemble setting. I also think it's the teachers role to provide students with new musical cultures as times change and our society is evolving. How are our students, their peers and the general public engaging with music outside of the school contexts? A lot of people listen to music constantly and especially with technology evolving people can also create music from the comfort of their own homes and still putting their talent out there for people to see. One big one is Covers of popular songs and posting them on YouTube. All you really need is a camera, a voice and maybe a guitar or a keyboard/piano. People can also make their own production studio in their own homes with all the technology out today. People engage with music a lot outside of school. After reading the Rose and Countryman article I realized that some teachers need to let their students be as creative as possible. I do agree that the elements should be taught to all students because it will help them understand what is going on in a piece as well as describe to what’s going on in a piece. However, that shouldn’t be overtaking a student’s creativity. Students need to feel connected to a piece before they lean to understand the elements of the piece. From experience, students who don’t feel a connection to a piece won’t analyze it very well. Knowing the basics of the elements is important to learning a new piece however, going more in depth of the elements where it’s not needed is not as necessary. In high school my teacher related sections of songs to something that the whole band could relate the piece like thunderstorms or waves crashing or relating it to another song everyone would know. He did also use rhythmic terms like syncopation etc. and made us identify the key the song was in but that was less stressed. In theory class he related what we were learning to the piece we were playing in band. It is important that the teachers make sure the students have a connection to the piece before forcing them to understand the elements appearing in the piece.
